About this tour
An immersive two-day visit to the Albanian Alps, Theth village, Qafa e Thorës, Grunas Waterfall, the historical church, the Lock-in Tower, the Blue Eye and Nderlysa Pools, with local cuisine and guesthouse accommodation.
Itinerary
Day 1 · Theth → Qafë Thorë → Grunas Waterfall
Leave Tirana at 06:00 or Durres at 05:10 (+€20 per person). Stop for coffee on the way. Take a 40-minute panoramic break at Qafa e Thorës Pass, 1,630 m above sea level. Reach Theth and check into the guesthouse. Visit Theth church and the Lock-in Tower, described in the reference as a place where more than 300 blood feuds within the Shala tribe were resolved. Walk approximately 1 hour 30 minutes return to Grunas Waterfall, over 30 m high and a protected natural monument, near the Bloja mill. Allow 30 minutes for photos, return to the guesthouse and have dinner in its restaurant.
Day 2 · Theth → Blue Eye → Shkodra
Breakfast with local bread, cheese, jam, honey, milk, tea and eggs from 08:00–09:00. Visit the Blue Eye and Nderlysa Pools, using local vehicles over difficult terrain. Walk 40 minutes from Nderlysa to the Blue Eye. Return to the guesthouse and depart for Shkodër around 13:00, stopping for rest and lunch. Arrive in Tirana around 19:00–20:00.
